There is no reason to suppose that they will not decrease under Obama, especially with increased public health initiatives--It may be that in spite of increased access to abortions the overall rate will of them will go down. The irony may be that Obama's policies will end up saving more babies.

As a Catholic you have to confess your sins before a priest and then they say your sins are forgiven. There is only 1 mediator between God and man and that is Jesus Christ. I just think a lot of catholics follow "man" (Pope, Mary) and not God/Jesus. Also, our bible says not to call any man Father, because you only have 1 father in Heaven. Matthew 23:9 And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. Now the Pope is saying Jesus is not the only way to God.

I am sorry to show you this, and am not trying to offend your faith. The Catholic Church claims Simon Peter the Apostle formed their church, giving them the keys to heaven and hell, for Christ gave the keys to Peter. This is a lie. Their church was actually formed by Simon Magus the Sorcerer, after being turned down, when he tried to purchase the Holy Spirit(Acts 8:14). God's used to be hailed has Peter's, and he was called a god in Rome because of his magic, thereby making him Simon the Peter.

BD, you are very mistaken. The Gnostic sect of Simonianism believed that Simon Magus was God (as conceived by the Gnostics) in human form, and he is a different man from Simon Peter. The heretic Simon spoken of in Acts is not the same man spoken of in John 21:15-17 and in Matthew 16:17-19. When we speak of Simon Peter, we are speaking of the Simon in Matthew, whose name was changed to Peter by Jesus.

Zig, in regards to your comment about confession, the practice comes from John 20:22-23 when Christ first appeared to the apostles after his Resurrection & said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. For those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; for those whose sins you retain, they are retained." Also, when we call priests father, it denotes a familial relationship, & is not trying to equate the priest with God. Nuns are also called sisters & mothers, and priests can be called brothers & fathers.

What you said is not very clear, and I'm not sure why you believe Simon Magnus founded the Catholic Church. Your statement about followers believing he was God, those followers were gnostics. And Jesus Himself changed Simon's name to Peter. The only false statement that has been made so far is that Simon Magnus founded the Catholic Church. We know who he is and even named a sin after him, which is "simony", trying to put a price on something of a spiritual nature which cannot be bought.

Look, this is some ridiculous, anti-catholic conspiracy theory you believe in. Believe all you want, but it's certainly not something you can prove, or it would already have been done by men greater than you or I if it were of any true significance. The church labeled Simon Magnus a heretic, & as I said before even named a sin after him. Early Christians buried martyrs near the site of their suffering, but St. Peter's actual burial site has been debated. It can't be determined w/ any certainty.
